Better than carpet and easy to install. This will keep the water from holding against gel coat.

After ordering the wrong size I made one call to Gatorbak and Damon sent the right size out the same day. Very easy to install and they look and work great.

I did the trailer rebuild about two weeks ago and have done the load/unload a few times now. The new bunks work perfect, and I haven't noticed too much difficulty with cranking the boat on as long as I dunk the entire trailer first. The covers and trailer look great, and I'd use this product again.

      Great Product

After much research I decided to go with Gatorbak product on my 99 Ranger 519DVS trailer. I ordered and the product shipped next day. Arrived perfectly packaged within a few days. I did a complete replacement of my angle brackets, boards, hardware and bunk covers. The worst part of the installation was the boards and brackets, but the Gatorbak installed easily. Perfectly fit the 2 x 6 bunks. The only complaint I have on the installation was where the 12' covers were folded for the shipment. I laid the product out flat in the sun and it helped reduce the crease, but it was still somewhat there when I installed them. First load of the boat was easy however there was some minor scrubbing of the product on my boat even though I completely submerged the bunks before loading. The scrubbing wipes right off with no effort though. I will need to make some minor adjustments to the spacing / angle of the bunks, but overall the project came out very nice. I'm happy to have no carpet in contact with my boat and first impressions are that this is a great product that will last a long time.

Great product - Amazing customer service

Posted by Charles Davis on May 20th 2016

When searching for a product to replace the bunk carpeting on my trailer, I came across this product and found several positive reviews online. I have a 2009 SeaDoo Challenger 180 SE with a gelcoat finish and was having some previous blemishes fixed on the bottom of the boat. I did not want to go with a product that could end up scuffing or wearing away at the gelcoat, and decided to give Gatorbak's bunk-wraps a shot. Ultimately, I could not be more pleased. I originally decided to order the white bunk-wraps as the bottom of my boat is white and I had fears that the material would possibly rub off on the gelcoat. Upon speaking to Damon, I decided to switch to the black material (which I really wanted) as he eased those concerns. He stated that as long as you donĂ¢Â€Â™t power load your boat on the trailer (thereby ensuring that your bunks are wet when trailering) you should never experience any rubbing of material onto your boat. He stated if that ever does occur, however, it should be minimal and will be easily wiped off with your finger. I'd like to touch on the customer service I experienced, for a moment. After ordering the white material (in a rush) I decided to speak to a representative to see if my concerns about scuffing were warranted, but unfortunately was unable to get a hold of anyone as I called after normal operating hours. Mr. Damon Bryngelson (the owner of Gatorbak) took the time himself to reach out to me and fielded all of my questions in both a professional and straight-forward manner. He also took it upon himself to ensure that I would receive the Black material instead, even though the white had already shipped. I can honestly say that this is the best customer service I have ever received - especially from a company whom I ordered a product from online. After the product arrived I had no trouble installing. I replaced the existing wood with pressure treated pine 2" x 6"s (1-1/2" x 5-1/2" actual size). I also replaced the swivel brackets which had rusted, placing a thin plastic gasket material between the new swivel bracket and the lumber. (The two most popular chemicals for wood pressure treatment are alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ) and copper azole (CA), which are both actively corrosive to metal with the exception being hot-dip galvanized steel and stainless steel. Unfortunately you never know the quality of the process used in the swivel brackets and even a small kink in the galvanization can lead to rusting. This is the reason that in so many instances the swivel brackets on bunks are corroded even when they were supposed to be galvanized. The plastic gasket material should help prevent this.) I installed the Gatobak material on the new 2"x6"s before attaching the lumber to the trailer. Ensure that you drill pilot holes if using pressure treated wood as it is known to split. If you measure appropriately and drill one pilot hole and screw at a time you can definitely achieve a factory installed finish yourself. I opted not to use the included end-caps. There was enough material on each end that I was instead able to cut a notch in the side of the bunk-wraps and then wrap the top over the end of the 2"x6". I personally believe that while it is easier to use the end-caps, wrapping the material over the end and securing it achieves the best look. The Gatorbak bunk wraps have performed great. The bunks are dry by the time I am home, ensuring that I will not have any blistering in the gelcoat down the road. I also don't have to worry about sand or other abrasive material which may have made its way onto, and retained within the bunk carpeting scuffing the bottom of my boat. Again, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The wraps look amazing, have performed extremely well and I received the best customer service one could possibly hope for. I would absolutely recommend this company and product to anyone looking to replace their bunk carpeting.
